Andrew's "first" haircut

Since AJ chopped up Andrew's hair, I took him to the salon this morning to get it all evened out.

We got there and he walked right in and climbed up into the chair like it was nothing new.

At first he sat in the chair very quietly while she sprayed his head with water, and then started cutting - several people commented on how quiet and still he was, it was quite odd, he's rarely ever quiet or subdued.

After about 5 minutes, he stretched his arms out and screamed "Mooommmmyyy" and started bawling, completely out of the blue. No nicks anywhere to be found, he wasn't hurt, just scared. Apparently it finally sunk in what was happening.

So he sat in my lap the rest of the appointment and laid his head on my chest.

The result: Andrew looks like a big boy now, my small baby is gone forever. I'll get used to it, eventually I suppose.

I'm sad and angry

Today I went shopping and out to lunch with my mom - left the boys with Corey - which makes it that much worse.

Sometime during the day, AJ cut Andrew's hair on one side of his head.

I want to cry, I want to throw up. That was his last little bit of babyness, his uncut baby hair, and it's been taken away.

Maybe I'm being extra emotional because I've recently stopped nursing him (1 week now!), but I'm so sad about this.

It's hard to see because he's blonde and his hair is babyfine, but here's the damage

This is what the other side of his head looks like, for comparison.

Just marking my place

to say that it's been 90.5 hours now since Andrew has nursed.

I've reached the end, after 6+ years worth of pregnancies and nursing, this is it.

I'm glad I did it, and I'm glad I'm moving on.

A random picture of my big boy in his new bathrobe, it makes him feel so grown up!

This is what I did today

Our play room is always a freaking wreck, there's so much stuff and not much organization going on in there. So I broke down and finally got it the way I want it, and dammit, it better stay this way.

So this is what I started with - it's not usually this messy but I threw everything on the floor and in boxes, I needed to make a mess to get it clean I guess.

First, I cleared out the closet so we could put up some shelving. Corey painted the closet, if you know Corey then I don't need to explain the random unpainted spot on the back wall.

Then, I put everything into boxes, buckets, whatever I could find to contain it all.

Corey started putting things on the shelves before I could snap pictures, but I took all the stuff off anyway because it wasn't where I wanted it.

I went to work, going through everything and organizing and putting it all into place. I didn't get too much done the first day, we had a lot going on, but I got through several boxes. This is what it looked like at then end of the day.

Yesterday I didn't do anything, I just couldn't get motivated. But today, I decided to just get it done. I worked all day, got done at about 10:30, and I'm exhausted.

At long last, the finished product!!!

AJ's new haircut

AJ got a new haircut on Thursday, he looks so much older now :(

Mini-golf and batting cages

Today we went to a birthday party, one of AJ's buddies from his first year of preschool. The party was held at a local mini-golf park that also had batting cages.

The boys had a ton of fun, they played two rounds of golf and each had a turn in the batting cages. AJ even got a couple hole in ones on the golf course!

We were all really glad to get out of the house, it's been so rainy and cold here we've been cooped up indoors.
